Capitol Ballet Company is a non-profit, pre-professional ballet company directed by Stuart Carroll and Sharon Newton since 1999. We are a volunteer organization staffed by highly skilled artistic directors, board members and volunteers so donations go directly to programming. The training received by the dancers is exceptional, thanks to the experience and dedication of our professional faculty. Capitol Ballet Center, the school connected to the company, trains ages 4 to adult and inspires intermediate and advanced level dancers to join the company and perform, thereby preparing them for professional careers in ballet. Dancers in the company range in age from age 11 to adult. Capitol Ballet Company produces high quality ballet performances. Our repertoire includes Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, Paquita, La Bayadere, Don Quixote, Les Sylphides, Sylvia, in addition to excerpts from various classical ballets. Our contemporary ballet world premieres include Grofe Variations, Dvorak Serenade, Sweet Debussy, Spanish Rhapsody, Pastorale for Guitar and Ascension. Most recent are Les Patineurs, Sweet and Low and Shostakovich.
We work to instill an appreciation of dance and the arts throughout the Greater Sacramento Region. We strive to perpetually empower and motivate dancers through the discipline and study of dance, while enriching the experience of the audiences who attend our performances. Each year we serve over 3,000 individuals through performances and outreach. Most of the individuals we serve are youth, followed by seniors and adults.
